El Capricho was created in the late 18th century at the initiative of María Josefa Pimentel, Duchess of Osuna and patron of the arts. It was a place for leisure, social gatherings and artistic experimentation, designed to reveal surprising scenes during a walk.

Its gardens combine French layouts, Italian settings and an English landscape of winding paths. Among trees, water and small buildings, every route reveals a different story.
